Lutzelbourg - Canal de la Marne au Rhin (Est) (Photo PJL)This is a vast region that we cross, by boat, from West to East, from the Champagne region to the Rhine and from north to south, from Luxembourg to Burgundy.

The core is the loop around Nancy; a loop that has unfortunately been theoretical since the closure of the Nancy branch in May 2008. But the reopening of this little junction canal between the Moselle and the canal from the Marne to the Rhine is announced for the summer of 2012.

Arzviller - Canal de la Marne au Rhin (Est) (Photo PJL)Crossing the reliefs required engineering exploits that left civil engineering structures of stunning ingenuity. The boat lift at Arzviller quickly descends from a col in the Vosges to the plain of Alsace (44 m difference in height).

The spellbinding charm of the Vosges forests, the attraction of Alsace in the spring when the trees are in flower and some one hundred towns of high tourist interest are available to you in this beautiful region.
