From la mer to Watten

The Aa crosses old salt marshes that were drained by the small canals built in the 18th century. It no longer gives access to the river network from the English Channel, since the French railway company obstinately refuses to manoeuvre the rail bridge that blocks navigation when leaving Gravelines. The little coastal river would nevertheless allow some beautiful towns with a rich heritage to be reached: Gravelines, of course, but also Watten, Bourbourg and Saint-Omer.
