From Montargis to Saint-Mammès

Of the four routes that lead from the Seine to the Mediterranean, this one is the most evocative of the bargemen's lives. The canal (alongside the river) follows the valley of the Loing, except for two sections where the river is navigable. It crosses a succession of woods, forests and charming villages.
