From Chalon-sur-Saône to Digoin

Known as the Charolais Canal when it was opened in 1793, between the two wars, it contributed to serving local heavy industry with 10,000 boats in service at its peak in 1936. This pretty canal, narrow and sinuous, has currently been abandoned by river traffic and is turning towards tourism involving boating, cycling and walking, with some pretty halts.
